A teenage migrant has been killed by a freight train close to the Eurotunnel entrance in Calais.
The boy, who is thought to be from east Africa and to be around 16 years old, is the 11th person to have died near the tunnel while trying to reach the UK since June, the BBC reported.
A spokesman for Eurotunnel in France told the BBC that paramedics were called after someone was found unconscious near the railway tracks on Wednesday night.
Previously, Eurotunnel has said migrants are making about 150 attempts to get into the terminal each night, down from a high of about 2,000 earlier in the year. Last week a man died after being electrocuted at the entrance to the Eurotunnel in Calais, and was found on the roof of a freight train, the BBC said.
There has been a fall in attempts to enter the Eurotunnel terminal following new security measures, according to officials.
The UK government has announced a series of measures throughout the summer to attempt to manage the escalating migrant crisis, including sending more security fencing and sniffer dogs, and, most recently, announcing there will be a 'control centre' established in Calais to help crack down on migrant trafficking groups.
