Mexico targets UK growth

Mexican producers are hoping to double the amount of fresh produce they export to the UK on the back of a sharp increase in accredited growers.

This year, Mexico has 411 agricultural producers certified under the MexicoGAP standard, which is benchmarked to GlobalGAP, but officials say this figure will rise to 1,447 companies by 2015. Mexico exports $120 million of agricultural products to the UK. “First of all, we want to double exports as more producers become certified,” said Fernando Ferdandez Quintanilla, director of global promotion at Mexico Calidad Suprema.
