Barbie, Buzz Lightyear and Bobo the Bear move aside, UK children have a new toy to adore that may just boost sales of fresh produce.
Supermarkets are set to stock The Goodness Gang; a toy collection to promote produce.
Sales promotion consultancy TCC will launch the range of eight fruit and veg characters to be used in a range of retail promotions and push healthy eating at the end of the summer.
The cuddly range includes carrot, garlic, aubergine and garlic characters as well as fruity banana, pear, cherry and strawberry friends.
TCC said it is in talks with most of the major multiples.
TCC general manager UK & Ireland David Ringer admitted that produce has “never been the easiest sell to children”. He said: “Shopping should be a fun experience as well as a domestic necessity and I don’t think many people could say they have ever had fun buying fruit and vegetables. The Goodness Gang is going to change that.”
