Mastronardi in High School Musical deal

US company Mastronardi Produce, which owns the Sunset brand, will be marketing salad lines with Disney Garden packaging starting this spring.

The first products will come on stream in April in packaging that features High School Musical. It is supported by the release of more High School Musical programming on TV and video this year from Disney.

Mastronardi signed the deal with Imagination Farms to market greenhouse tomatoes and mini-cucumbers throughout North America. Paul Mastronardi, executive vice-president, said: “This is a great opportunity for our company to market our gourmet greenhouse vegetables with Disney one of the most recognised brands in the world.”

His company previewed a prototype of its Disney Garden packaging at PMA last year and was very pleased with the reviews.

Mastonardi is one of nearly 30 co-packers that markets Disney Garden fresh produce throughout North America, representing more than 300 fresh produce lines.

Matthew Caito, ceo of Imagination Farms, said: “One of the reasons we have partnered with Mastronardi for the greenhouse category is their demonstrated category leadership through the development of proprietary varieties along with their innovative marketing programmes. The Disney Garden programme is a multi-layered approach to selling more fresh produce and Mastronardi is a company that understands this.”

Under the agreement, Mastronardi is marketing Pom Pom Toms tomatoes, Greenhouse Grape tomatoes and mini cucumbers.
