The latest addition to Marshalls's fleet is a 13.6m single temperature trailer from Gray & Adams of Doncaster which has supplied the firm's trailer needs since 1987. The trailers operate from Marshalls' facilities in Cornwall and Kent as well as Lincolnshire and can also be used when necessary for the producer's out-of-season supplies from Spain and Italy.

The twin-frame, step-necked trailers are specified to operate at chilled temperature and the latest models incorporate Thermoking SL400 refrigeration systems. The tri-axle trailers have an internal height of 2.6m and an interior width of 2.46m and have been fitted with full-length chequer-plate floors. They are fitted with three sets of ferry rings and have full width rear compression buffers to protect against rear-end damage during loading and offloading. All of the trailers have double rear doors and stainless-steel aperture frames.

"As we buy all of our trailers we look for maximum durability," said Marshalls's Jim Thackray. "Gray & Adams trailers are built to last and we have just refurbished some of our earlier ones which we have been operating since 1987-88 in order to prolong their usability even further."
