Haygrove grows strawberries, raspberries and cherries, and supplies a number of leading UK retailers

Haygrove has posted a marginal drop in pre-tax profit and a small rise in turnover.

For the financial year ending 31 December 2013, the Herefordshire-headquartered business saw its profits dip from £2.8 million in 2012, to £2.6m in 2013.

Group turnover, meanwhile, according to accounts posted on Companies House, was up from just over £45m in 2012, to a little above £46m in 2013.

Haygrove produces and sells tunnels to fruit growers, and is also involved in the production of soft fruit, supplying a number of leading UK retailers.

Haygrove director, Debra Fox, said: 'The majority of fruit produced is supplied to UK supermarkets. This brings with it continual pressure to imrove on quality and pricing. However, through Haygrove Heaven, the group is able to provide a continual supply throughout the year, giving it a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

'Over a number of years, the group has developed an extensive international presence in the sale of polytunnels. The group continues to look at innovative ways to make efficiencies in the production process and development of its product range.'

Going forward, Fox added: 'The directors believe that the group will continue to trade porfitably, and be well placed to take advantage of any opportunities which may arise.'
