Mangetout and sugarsnap prices are due to stay high over April.
Jacana Produce has said that an oversupply from Guatemala – whose season ends in the next few weeks – flooded the market, rendering it “worthless” at one point.
While things have since improved, Zimbabwe, which takes over, historically has higher prices on the product, according to the Evesham-based supplier.
Manchester-based wholesaler Bettaveg has noted that mangetout and sugarsnaps will soon start to rise in price due to a drop in availability from Kenya.
Lime prices are also expected to remain high until the Mexican season starts in a few weeks, due to reduced volumes coming out of Brazil, according to both Jacana Produce and Bettaveg.
