Marks & Spencer will open the doors of the first of three eco-stores next month as it steps up its ethical programme.
Chief executive Stuart Rose said the move is part of M&S’s £200 million eco plan, which aims to make the retailer carbon neutral over five years.
Two of the eco-stores will be in Scotland and M&S will also sponsor a wind turbine near Aberdeen.
Rose said carbon neutrality for M&S would have the same effect as removing 100,000 cars from UK roads by 2012.
