Marks & Spencer has made public its plans for a new distribution centre in Bradford.

The plans were shown at a public exhibition in the city on Friday, and would create 2,500 jobs in the Yorkshire city.

M&S is in the latter stages of negotiation surrounding the creation of one of its largest transport and distribution hubs in the UK on the former West Bowling Golf Club off Rooley Lane close to the M606.

The new centre is expected to be fully open by 2010 - and M&S is reportedly discussing a 35-year lease for the centre with site owner ProLogis.

A planning application for the development will be made to Bradford Council early next month and will include a training academy for staff.

M&S plans to make the new centre energy efficient as part of its plans to become carbon neutral and reduce its waste output.
