The new facility

Manor Fresh welcomed senior executives from Marks & Spencer's food business to mark the official opening of its refurbished potato factory.

As a long-standing own-label supplier of potatoes and fresh vegetables, the team at Manor Fresh has always placed great importance on maintaining lasting supply relationships, and thus, having secured a long-term commitment from Marks & Spencer to continue as the retailer’s sole supplier of fresh potatoes, the Lincolnshire-based firm has invesed in new equipment and technology to make a significant improvement to its factory at Manor Farm, Holbeach.

The culmination of two years of planning, the upgraded facility incorporates some of the most important processes and principles from manufacturing and applies them in the fresh produce setting.

Manor Fresh hopes that the new technology and machinery will improve the efficiency and overall performance, allowing the firm to look forward to the future with confidence.

At the official opening event, held on 31 October, Mike Scott, Manor Fresh, MD: “We are delighted to have completed this significant investment project whilst maintaining the required level of product quality and customer service that our key customers expect of us.

'It’s an absolute credit to the team whose effort, focus and professionalism has delivered this project within all of the business parameters set down. They should be very proud of their achievement.”

Manor Fresh was formed in April 2006, and is a joint venture business owned by Fresca Group and Bakkavor QV.

The company procures and packs fresh potatoes and vegetables on behalf of its retail, wholesale and processor customers.

Manor Fresh's turnover for the year to 26 April, 2014, was just shy of £60 million, and the company employs around 180 people employed at its facilities.
