Marks & Spencer is targeting the convenience sector, with plans to put Simply Food stores in up to 300 BP service stations across the country.

The retailer has also announced the takeover of 28 Iceland stores as part of its expansion.

Reports indicate M&S is aiming to increase its 3.8 per cent share of the food retail market to 5 per cent - a growth of £1.44bn.

With 170 Simply Food stores now in existence, the retailer is expected to create up 500 stores over the next few years.
