Marks & Spencer is building a 1.1 million sqft sustainable distribution platform in the north of England.

ProLogis is developing the facility, which will feature sustainable design and building techniques, on a 90-acre business park near Bradford.

The centre, which will employ some 2,500 staff when up and running, will house warehousing and office space, along with training rooms, on-site catering and staff facilities.

M&S is aiming for the site to attain a minimum rating of Very Good under the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), a standard in the UK assessing sustainability and environmental practice.

The site is also aiming to be carbon neutral, offsetting emission by purchasing carbon credits.
