Entries are being sought for the M&S-sponsored Food Adventures category at the 2017 Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year competition.

Food Adventures was created for M&S last year for the first time, and this time out is focused on the wealth of quality food in the countries bordering the Mediterranean.

“We want to see vivid and enticing shots, evocative pictures of food and food occasions; from traditional family gatherings and feasts, to market stalls and street eateries,' said Zoe Hayward, head of brand and marketing at M&S. 'Show us the vibrant colour and flavour of food from countries stretching all the way from Sicily to Sardinia, through Portugal to the South of France!”

In April 2016, the Food Adventures category was won by one of the world’s top travel photographers, Robert Holmes, who flew over from America to the awards evening in the Mall Galleries, London, to be presented with his trophy.

“We are really looking forward to seeing more amazing pictures entered into this category,” said Hayward. “The standard last year was phenomenal.”

M&S, which is known for its use of high-quality food imagery, also sponsors the Food Portraiture category, for the best in styled food photography.

The judging panel for 2017 includes Zoe Hayward as well as food writer Jay Rayner, chef Gary Rhodes, David Loftus, photographer to Jamie Oliver, and Wajmah Yaqubi, global photo director at Buzzfeed.
