A food testing company is set to give producers and suppliers the opportunity to get maximum benefits from tests carried out on their produce.
Direct Laboratories is set to hold a seminar on February 16, looking into pesticide residue analysis and microbiological testing.
The seminar will focus on the key testing issues relevant to producers of fresh produce and prepared salads.
The seminar is being held at Direct Laboratories’ own premises in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, and will incorporate a tour of the pesticide and microbiology laboratories, including demonstrations of laboratory procedures.
It will provide attendees with the opportunity to take part in discussions about methods of analysis; the interpretation of results; MRLs and the future of EU active substance reviews, as well as finding out more about which micro-organisms are important, how to take samples and how to reduce risks.
Eleanor Davies, Head of Pesticides at Direct Laboratories, will be leading the seminar, with Dr Matthew Whetton and microbiologist, Dr Tony Moore.
“Everybody in the fresh produce industry knows that pesticide residue and microbiology tests are necessary, but not everybody understands exactly what we are testing for and why.
“This is why we hold these seminars; they have proven to be an excellent way to increase people’s understanding of the tests that we conduct, as well as providing a forum to discuss ways in which food producers can reap greater benefits from their test results,” she said.
