Maersk ship makes maiden voyage

Maersk sent the largest of its container carriers to Antwerp and on to Felixstowe last week on its maiden voyage.

The 13,000 TEU capacity Maersk Enfield called at Antwerp thanks to recent river-deepening works at the Belgian port.

“The deepening has turned out to be a commercial success,” said Marc Van Peel, chairman of Antwerp’s port authority. “We are now a top-level player, with the largest container lines in the world placing their confidence in Antwerp.”
