Swiss food manufacturer Gastro Star AG is enjoying a faster and more efficient process of packing salads, thanks to the adoption of a new sealing machine.
Ishida Europe makers of the selected QX7775 machine said Gastro Star was looking for an integrated packing system that would deliver a considerably higher speed than the seven packs per minute previously being achieved.
“The key criteria were to provide perfect freshness and appetising appearance, with particular attention to preventing the salad from intruding into the tray seal area,” it added.
Ishida said the new line had been designed with a single touchscreen display-controlling denester, checkweigher, traysealer and labelling unit.
The company also highlighted the machine’s “Pull-back” feature, which allows the film sheet to be pulled back automatically at the moment of sealing to ensure a clean break and also means the film can usually be run at a lower tension which helps to reduce tearing.
Johann Meier, head of Gastro Star’s technical department said he had been very impressed with the speed and the efficiency of the installation process and the QX775 had been working perfectly from the outset.
