Macfrut to branch out internationally

Macfrut, the Italian horticultural trade fair, is to extend its international reach this year.

The three-day event will take place in “city of fruit” Cesena from April 26.

Trade missions will go to South Africa, Turkey, Russia, Brazil and Argentina this year, according to its organisers.

Russia, India, China and Morocco were targeted in 2006.

Macfrut established an international office last year in order to prepare for trade missions this year.

Representatives of Macfrut have already visited The Shenzen Fair China, India, and the Morocco-based Sifel di Agadir Trade Fair.

The team has met the four largest horticultural companies in India and sent brochures to the Russia market.

The Cesena fair will go on trade missions to Russia, South Africa, Turkey, Argentina and Brazil in the run up the 2007 Macfrut event.

The activities are aimed at reinforcing ties and contacts established in previous trade fairs and creating new contacts.

Macfrut has also assembled a DVD in English, French and Arabic.

Operators from the various sectors involved in the supply chain will be present at the event, according to its organisers.

More than 20,000 visitors attended the 2006 event, nearly all of whom were professional operators, with 20 per cent coming from outside Italy.
