Select Lincolnshire is actively encouraging its members and fresh produce businesses in the county to engage with London wholesale markets.
New Covent Garden Market’s (NCGM) business development managers Ruth Holbrook and Zeenat Anjari, along with Western International’s business development manager Peter Clarke, took delegates at last week’s Select Lincolnshire conference through the opportunities that lie ahead. They told growers how to manoeuvre around the obstacles involved in trading with London’s wholesale markets.
Anjari said: “Our goal as business development managers is to increase the amount of UK-grown produce in wholesale markets in London.
“We want growers to come to the markets to tour our facilities.”
Holbrook added some advice for producers: “Sending emails and leaving messages will not be enough to get through - we need you to come to the markets and meet the wholesalers.”
