Dennis Mwakulua has been named London Chef of the Year 2007 by the Westminster Kingsway College Culinary Salon.
He won the title after impressing the judges with his innovative menu reflecting current London trends.
Mwakulua works at leading business caterers Eurest, part of the Compass Group, at Fijitsu, and has a distinguished career in the hospitality industry.
The former student at Westminster Kingsway College is also a member of the Association Culinaire Francaise, the Master Chefs of Great Britain and the Craft Guild of Chefs.
The Kenyan-born chef moved to London to pursue his career.
Chris Hutchinson, chairman of the New Spitalfield’s Market Tenents’ Association, which sponsored the event, said: "The Market's sponsorship is an on-going association with Westminster Kingsway College, whose former students include many renowned names in the catering industry such as Jamie Oliver and Antony Worrall Thomson.”
