Little Red Tractor to pull trailer

At the NFU’s Horticulture in Focus Conference, NFU board for horticulture chairman Graham Ward said the Little Red Tractor might soon have something to pull.

Ward highlighted the importance of identifying the hidden advantages of local farming to consumers with the little red tractor logo and hinted that there could be an addition to logo in the pipeline.

He said: “The NFU is in discussion with LEAF to promote the red tractor with a green trailer. We want to move our industry faster. Marks & Spencer and Waitrose are driving us but we need to pour our efforts into that because if we cannot identify produce with all the advantages, all growers will grow is grass, buy a mower and just mow it once every five years.”

Trade response to the logo has generally been extremely low key, but the NFU still believes that there is long-term potential for the farm standard.
