A new printing system is said to be revolutionising the packaging of vegetables.

The 6,200S printer from Linx has dramatically increased efficiency for a number of companies. UK Salads even claim the machine, which dates their cucumbers, is the best investment they have made this year.

For manual packaging systems with label dispensers, uneven shaped vegetables, such as cucumbers, cause a good deal of problems with both wastage and label jams.

The Linx 6200S system coats the vegetable in a plastic flow wrapper, which has a best before date and traceability code ready-printed.

For UK Salads, this means that the Linx can label up to 130 cucumber portions each minute.

UK Salads director Pasquale Milazzo said: 'The Linx system met my key requirements of flexibility, self-cleaning function and speed of coding. I have no hesitation in saying the Linx system is the best investment we have made this year.

'We have been so impressed with the system that I am always looking to extend its use. In our business, the design and quality of packaging is vital – it can make all the difference to securing crucial contracts.

'The Linx Printer has enabled us to achieve a more professional finish and is also very popular with staff.'
