Linpac Packaging has scooped a prestigious business award for the second time.

The multi-material food-packaging manufacturer has been recognised for its commitment to staff development and training once again after winning the Wakefield District Business People Make Performance Award for a second time.

Judges for the awards, which showcase the Yorkshire city’s industry and commerce, praised the company’s continued commitment to the professional development of its workforce during challenging business conditions and its acknowledgement that skilled people are essential for the company to remain competitive, efficient and productive, and at the forefront of its sector.

Having previously won the award in 2009, Linpac was recognised for its forward planning to avoid a skills shortage by ensuring that there is a succession of employees being trained with the knowledge and skills to allow them to rise through the ranks to replace natural staff turnover.

Barbara Laing, divisional communications manager at Linpac said: “We are extremely proud to be receiving this award for the second time. It shows that our staff training and development strategy is not a here-today-gone-tomorrow approach, but something we recognise as having a key part to play in making our business a success both now and in the future.”

Meanwhile, the company has promoted Adam Barnett to become vice president of sales and recruited Joanna Stephenson to fill his former role as vice president of marketing and innovation. She joins the company after four years at Sun Chemical and earlier employment at rogenSi and as a European product director at the Dow Chemical Company.
