G’s Fresh has been using LinkedIn, the social networking site for working professionals, to promote the benefits of a career in the fresh produce industry.
The vegetable supplier’s new page on LinkedIn offers information about the business with accompanying videos from colleagues about their experiences at the firm.
Dan Cross, sales director at G’s, believes that by utilising websites such as LinkedIn, the fresh produce industry will receive greater interest from graduates.
He said: “This autumn G’s have taken a presence at most of the major university careers fairs and it was disappointing how many new graduates had not considered a career in the dynamic industry that is food production.”
Earlier this month, Professor James Brown, president of the BSPP, warned that flaws in the UK’s education system will result in less fresh produce experts, if not addressed, in the coming years.
