The new facility

A Lincolnshire supplier has moved premises after five years of sustained growth in the foodservice sector.

Freshdrop has moved from its site in Kirton Holme to nearby East Heckington, west of Boston to a purpose-built site already in place.

The site features a 1,200sqft cold store and has increased access for the firm’s fleet of 10 vehicles.

Freshdrop has grown steadily since its inception in 2005 gaining Select Lincolnshire accreditation, government 5 A DAY accreditation as well as the contract to serve the schools of Bedford via the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme through Eden Foodservice.

The new site, which the company will lease, will feature a packing line for retail customers.

Managing director Jonny King told FPJ: “The new site is better in terms of getting vehicles out and suppliers getting in and we are hoping to pass on the efficiencies the site gives us.

“We are nicely positioned between a national and a one man band so we have a personal service but also good scale. We have carved out expansion in a poor economy and you can only get there by being sympathetic to your customers as their customer volumes are down and their costs are up - if you understand these problems you can then work within that. Our move to the new site will make it easier for our local suppliers to increase their volumes with us, and the growth potential we have can help take their products to more customers.”
