Lime leaves flutter into Sainsbury's

Sainsbury’s has started stocking UK grown fresh Kaffir limes leaves. The product is grown year round by Len Atkins in his small nursery near Colchester, Essex and is available in 35 Sainsbury’s stores specially selected according to customer profile.

A traditional favourite with independent ethnic outlets, the lime leaves are popular in Thai and Indonesian dishes and are finding new favour for garnishing or muddling in cocktails.

Kate Fox, product developer at Sainsbury’s said: “Our customers are always keen to try new cuisines and we love being able to offer exciting new ingredients to keep up with our aspiring cooks. It's great to be the first retailer to offer fresh lime leaves, making Asian dishes, cooked from scratch, taste even better.”

Kaffir lime leaves are available in selected Sainsbury's stores at £1.49 for a pack of four double lime leaves.
