Following the announcement made earlier this year that the Covent Garden Market Authority’s general manager, Mike Liggins, would be retiring from his position in the autumn, the chairman, Brenda Dean, has confirmed that he will be leaving the Authority on October 28.

Baroness Dean, in making the announcement said, “This leaving date for Mike Liggins is entirely of his own choosing. As I said at the time of the announcement of Mike’s retirement, he will be missed by all of us at the Market. We wish him well and he goes with our respect and appreciation for his unerring hard work for the Authority and its tenants over so many years.”

Liggins commented: “I am genuinely sorry to be leaving the Authority after over 30 years’ involvement in its affairs, and I shall miss the daily contact with the Market and its myriad issues and problems. The future of the Market will remain a matter of great interest to me. My best wishes to all my colleagues in the Authority and the tenant community, and to the Market itself.”

The Authority is in the process of appointing a successor to Mike Liggins and would hope to report details of an appointment by the end of September.
