Lidl funsize veg

Lidl is piloting a new range of 'fun size' vegetables in a bid to get kids to eat more greens.

The range, under Lidl's own-label Oaklands brand, includes Broccoli Trees, Sweet Potato Piggies, Unicorn Carrots, Cauliflower Clouds and 'Romanasaurus Rex' - mini Romanesco broccoli.

In a post on Facebook, Lidl UK wrote: 'We're currently piloting a range of fun size veg with names and packaging designed to help encourage kids to eat their greens (and reds, and yellows).

'And we want your feedback. Is this something that would encourage your Lidl 'Uns to eat more veggies? Let us know in the comments.'

It is understood the line will be in Lidl stores across England, Scotland and Wales until the end of the month, or until stocks last.

Within the first 18 hours of Lidl's post, it had received nearly 2,000 'likes' and over 550 comments, most of which were positive.

One Facebook user, Lolli Gardner, wrote: 'I think this is a great idea! Anything's worth a chance to make veg more appealing to children. I'm very lucky my boy loves all fruit and veg but I still think he would appreciate the fun with this packaging.'

Another, Vikki Curtis, said: 'Never mind my grandkids, it would encourage me to eat more veg. Portions are currently too big for me. I throw a lot away so I don't bother buying them now.'
