Suzi Leather, chair of the School Meals Review Panel and charged with driving up school meal standards, was made a Dame in the New Year Honours list.

Dame Suzi has worked in a diverse range of health-related fields over her career. She was appointed as chair of the School Meals Review Panel in the summer following a campaign by TV chef Jamie Oliver. She has also worked for the Food Standards Agency and chaired an NHS trust. She said: "Personally I am delighted and touched to receive this honour. It is recognition of the importance of the work that I have been involved in."

Robert Rees of Far Oakridge, chef and governor, British Nutrition Foundation was awarded an MBE for services to the Food Industry.

Rees is a former board member of the Food Standards Agency. He is a Trustee and general governor for the British Nutrition Foundation, board member of the Cotswold AONB, director, Stroud Educational Business Partnership and Gloucestershire Food Ambassador as part of the Gloucestershire Food Vision. Rees is also a director of Taste of the West and is a member of many regional and national working groups on food procurement, health, education and food safety.
