LEAF report finds success

LEAF farmers have been adopting best practice successfully to achieve meaningful change on farms in the 10 years since the first LEAF audit was set up, a report has found.

In support of the work of the Voluntary Initiative, LEAF has demonstrated how many farmers have voluntarily adopted best practice and delivered environmental improvement on their farms.

For example using uncropped strips to protect hedgerows and watercourses from field operations has increased from 40 per cent to 65 per cent in 2002.

The organisation’s demonstration farm network is also branching out with seven new farms due to come on board over the next six months.
