LEAF gets set for new audit

The new audit is expected to offer farmers an affordable, accessible management tool to help them respond effectively to the changing needs of their industry.

It is a computerised whole-farm management tool that helps farmers assess and improve their farming practices. It features a comprehensive help facility, on-screen access to advisory publications and information, audit reports, action reports, performance profiles, on-screen benchmarking, on-line submission of the completed audit and easy retrieval of audit updates.

"The growing industry is having to reinvent itself to stay competitive and prosperous," said LEAF chief executive Caroline Drummond. "Growers need to be dynamic to stay in profit and respond to developments in the marketplace. The new LEAF audit will help growers to work effectively in this changing world and plan for the future. It builds on their strengths and puts them firmly in the driving seat."

LEAF consulted widely on the new audit and Drummond said she is "delighted" with the product which will be launched on September 29. "What we have now is a much more streamlined and interactive management tool for today's modern farming business," she said.

The audit has been developed by LEAF with Farmade and sponsorship from AgCo, Banks Cargill, Defra, Marks & Spencer, NatWest and Unilever.
