Falmouth-based Westcountry Fruit Sales has taken over speciality food distributor Plough to Plate, reportsThis is the West Country.

Plough to Plate was started by Nigel and Sherry Boocock in Liskeard in 2001, with the aim being to help shops and restaurants find quality food in their area.

Now, Westcountry Fruit Sales, known as one of the south west's leading distributors of fresh produce to the catering and retail trade, is taking over the company.

Managing director Sean Williams told This is the West Country: “The timing is perfect; Nigel and Sherry have been looking to move on to ‘pastures new’ and we have been looking to add more speciality and artisanal products.”

He added that his company planned to expand Plough to Plate's speciality product range to give a greater selection of “hard to source” ingredients.
