Skills body Lantra is searching for a new “commercially-minded political mover and shaker” to be its next chair.
Outgoing boss Dr Gordon McGlone said the next incumbent would face challenging conditions.
Following a central government review in 2008 Lantra is repositioning itself as a more commercial organisation.
The body’s senior team are nearing the end of a two-year project aimed at building its operational strength.
McGlone, who steps down in January after eight successful years, said: “Much of my work has had the goal of making Lantra ever more responsive to its clients - particularly in setting up national councils in the four nations led by their own chair. But we know our next steps must make us a stronger voice for our sector in both the private sector and with our political masters.
“Look at food security, climate change, globalisation, failing biodiversity and the challenges of a shrinking economy. Lantra’s next chair must be someone who will not only help Lantra evolve and but will also enjoy helping our industries argue their corner.”
