German-based fresh produce technology giant Kronen has developed a new machine for coring and cutting lettuce.
The TT 450 claims to increase productivity by up to 110 per cent per person.
A Kronen spokesperson said: "The TT 450 is characterised by its easy-to-use-operation. The operator (two persons possible) places the lettuce heads onto the automatic infeed belt.
"The lettuce is transported to the cutting blades and is kept in place with down holders for a correct and soft product guiding."
