According to data from the country's ministry of agriculture and forestry, the total output of the Korean floriculture segment was estimated to be 696.6 billion won last year, this is up 191 per cent from 239.3 billion won in 1990.

Around 53 per cent of the output was made up of seven items. These included roses, western orchids, lillies, chrysanthemums and carnations.

The number of flower growers has increased 51 per cent to 13,466 last year, with the size of flower-growing fields rising 83 per cent from 10 years ago.
