Dutch micro produce specialist Koppert Cress has launched new lavender-flavoured cress Liita.
The launch builds on the popularity of lavender flowers as decoration in high-end foodservice, with the cress format transforming this trend into an edible version.
“Liita Cress is a slightly bitter cress with the flavour of lavender,” a statement from Koppert Cress said.
“It matches well with light meats, strong-tasting vegetables, and cheese, and it also works particularly well in sweet dishes.”
Originating in the Mediterranean region, the scent of Liita Cress is reminiscent of the lavender fields of Provence, Koppert said. Cresses are germinated seedlings with the taste and aroma of young plants.
