The latest information from Kiwifruit Vine Health, the organisation set up to manage the PSA disease outbreak in NZ kiwifruit orchards, states that just 11ha of kiwifruit orchards have had to be destroyed because of the disease.
Since it was discovered in an NZ orchard in November, 126 orchards have tested positive for the disease and 57 per cent of those grow only green kiwifruit. The majority (71 per cent) of the 126 orchards are withing a 23km area south of Te Puke township.
