According to a report in the New Zealand Herald, some growers in the area have lost their entire crop after the worst spring frosts in 20 years. And estimates from the industry calculate that lost profits for growers are likely to amount to NZ$5million (£1.5m).

Single desk marketer and exporter Zespri International has yet to calculate the full impact of the dismal spring conditions on total production as it is still very early in the season and damage to buds and flowers is under assessment.
