In the latest issue of industry newsletter Kiwiflier, Zespri reported the favourable response in New Zealand to both EurepGap and British Retail Consortium protocols.

More than 2,7000 orchards are now registered as EurepGap compliant in the New Zealand. The requirements for the good agricultural practice standards are 'now embedded in the Zespri system,' reported the group. 'And as such, compliance and system development will be ongoing.' In the coming months Zespri will review the processes used for initial implementation in order to ensure that the kiwifruit industry in New Zealand develops the most cost-effective and practical means of maintaining compliance in future seasons.
