Allen added that the Skills Council is extremely interested in increasing its support of the land-based sector, in recognition of the major commercial contribution it makes to the Kent economy.

In its role of facilitating education and funding, Lantra represents the interests of over 400,000 businesses and 1.5 million workers in the environmental, land-based and coastal marine industries in Great Britain.

Lantra trainers offer businesses the facility to develop skills in practical, technical and specialised areas with opportunities for career progression and promotion.

This is well-supported by the National Learning Skills Council, in association with the LIF-European Social Fund, SEEDA, Defra and various other funding bodies.
