A Kent labour provider has been handed down a two-year ban on working as a gangmaster after it was found he tried to breach his work permit restrictions.

Vinay Sharma of Gravesend had his licence refused for Skyhawk Services because he was only granted leave to remain in the UK if he worked for another company as an office systems manager.

The Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) refused Sharma’s application for a licence and declared him not fit and proper to hold one. The restriction carries a two-year ban on working as a gangmaster.

Paul Whitehouse, chairman of the GLA said: “”No one should attempt to breach their work permit restrictions. We always check applicants for a licence to ensure they have the right to work as a gangmaster.”
