The Keelings stand at Fruit Logistica 2008

Not everyone in Berlin last week felt 2008 was due to be a year of doom and gloom. “There is too much pessimism in the trade,” said Terry Watts, joint managing director of Keelings. “It is too easy to jump on the bandwagon, but we as a business, and as a trade in general, need to be more optimistic in terms of what we can deliver. There are certainly challenges out there, but what’s new?”

Watts, who used to be md of importer Janic Import & Export before it merged into Irish firm Keelings in December, said there has been no change since the acquisition. “We trade under the Keelings banner, but have the same team, focus and commitment we have always had,” he added.
