The Duchess of Cambridge may have thought she’d already been immortalised in every form possible, from souvenir plates to wedding-themed mouse mats and everything in between.

But her fame is about to extend to the world of fruit with the news that US breeder Driscoll’s is naming a new blackberry after her.

Trialled in Mexico, Catherine is one of a number of new blackberries that the company’s Soren Bjorn said “could revolutionise the category”.

One, as yet unnamed, new variety is currently in development that features a “whole new production system”, said Bjorn, adding: “Growers are excited”.
