The Jersey Royal Company (JRC) has announced three senior management appointments to support both its on-island and UK potato operations as it looks to bounce back after the bad weather conditions last year affected the crop.

The firm has also confirmed that it will announce two more senior appointments in the coming weeks.

William Church has returned to the company as sales and marketing director, following a 20-month break. Meanwhile, Nigel Holliday, who has been with JRC for three years, has been promoted to commercial director, and Graeme Stokes has been promoted to the position of director of health and safety.

As well as driving sales of Jersey Royal potatoes, the firm says that Church will focus his efforts on raising the profile of sister business The Kent Potato Company, as it looks to become a leading supplier into the UK market.

Holliday will retain his position as the account manager for JRC's UK supply into retail giant Tesco.

'Following two years of weather-related difficulties and fierce trading conditions we have decided to meet the challenges head on by strengthening the management team to grow our business, both here and in the UK,' said Tom Binet, JRC managing director. 'These three senior appointments follow some internal restructuring, and will be complemented by two further appointments in the coming weeks.'
