Workers from Jordan will be employed in Israeli herb farms in the Jordan Valley and the Bet She'an Valley, according to an agreement signed recently between Israel and the government of Jordan.
Jordanian workers will cross the border in the morning and return to their homes in Jordan at the end of the day.
The Jordanian workers will be employed by Israeli farmers growing fresh herbs for export, as this region is the country's largest fresh herbs cultivation region. Israeli farmers commented that this deal will enable them to increase production of fresh herbs for export and maintain a continuous export schedule.
Dany Tamari, chairman of the Bet She'an Valley regional council said that employing workers from Jordan will make it possible to develop the region’s 24 co-operative settlements, all aimed for export.
