Sales of Jersey Royal were up this year at Redbridge boosted by a prize draw

In a post-season analysis Redbridge Holdings has announced a 15 per cent rise in its Jersey Royal sales this year thanks in part to a wholesale market sales promotion.

The prize draw was won by independent retailer Marea Williams of Wigan. Williams enjoyed a luxury weekend in Jersey with £500 spending money and some 11 runners up also received cash prizes totalling £1,700.

Redbridge's activity was launched in May at all 14 of the company's wholesale branches. Running for 13 weeks it also contributed to a 15 per cent rise in sales year on year despite a late start to a frost-struck season.

The promotion was run with Jersey supplier TOP Produce. In order to enter the draw, retailers had to purchase £100 of Jersey Royal potatoes from one of Redbridge's branches.

"The success of this promotion shows the value of working in partnership with our growers and customers," said Graeme Hinchley, director of Redbridge Produce and Flowers. "This type of activity paves the way forward for closer relationships benefiting our customers and our growers as together we are committed to providing the best value for money on the marketplace."
