Consultancy and survey company Jensen Associates last week expanded its operations with the opening of offices in Madrid.
The company said the new branch, Jensen y Asociados Espana, will provide a central location for producing areas in Spain and nearby Portugal.
“With this expansion, we are now present in two of the major fresh produce markets in Europe, which will be of great benefit to UK importers of Spanish fresh produce, but also to Spanish exporters, as we have in-depth knowledge of the UK market for perishables,” said Carsten Jensen, director of Jensen Associates.
He said that while a major part of the company’s activities within the UK are centred on out-turn surveys and loss adjustment, the Spanish office would focus on post-harvest handling and optimising of logistics chains from the time of harvest up to time of shipment.
“It is always better for all parties to avoid quality problems and irregularities from the outset, than to just solve them once things go wrong,” he said. “With the continuous pressure on prices, this approach is as important as ever to remain successful, and we have already been contacted by companies both in Spain and the UK who have shown interest in our services.”
In addition to operations in Spain and Portugal, the company expects Jensen y Asociados Espana to undertake other assignments in the west Mediterranean area.
