Despite the arctic weather, Jazz Apples once again set the recent BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham alight with celebrity chef Brian Turner even joining in the celebrations to mark the start of the British Jazz apple season.

For the fourth year running, the Jazz Apple stand proved one of the main attractions offering free samples of the office.

The stand celebrated November’s beginning to the UK Jazz apple season with an orchard theme. There was a picking bin brimming with apples, farmer’s benches for the public to relax and enjoy a slice of Jazz on and a touch screen apple quiz to test consumer’s apple knowledge.

Jazz Apple’s commercial manager Gary Harrison said: “The sheer number of enthusiastic foodies which the BBC Good Food Show attracts is incredible and it continues to be a key part of the Jazz calendar as the awareness campaign continues.

“Not only does it work perfectly in driving trial of the variety but the timing of the event provides the perfect occasion to celebrate the start of the British Jazz season. The feedback from consumers is always fantastic and the 4 years exhibiting here have definitely been a contributing factor to the variety reaching £25 million at retail level for the year end 31 October 2010.”

In total more than 20,500 apples were handed out while chef Brian Turner demonstrated cooking spiced Jazz apples with caramel sauce.

The NEC hsted more than 100,000 visitors during the five-day event and Jazz growers were on hand to talk to consumers about the apple’s British provenance.
