Jaffa enjoys value increase at Tesco

Jaffa-labelled fruit has enjoyed strong growth in value at Tesco in the last quarter, fuelled by an increase in in-store promotions as more shoppers look for bargains in the fruit and veg department.

Sources at the brand said Jaffa soft citrus lines in particular have benefited from joining the supermarket’s price-focused campaign.

From March to July, the value of Jaffa soft citrus - including clementines, satsumas and tangerines - grew by 61 per cent, as price promotions drove large volumes of fruit through stores.

Jaffa oranges and grapefruit also grew in value, by 28 per cent and 2 per cent, respectively.

Jaffa-branded ClemenGold is set to arrive back in stores this week, for six weeks.

The line, which was last in the shelves in March, is a sweet-tasting easy peeler of Nadorcott, Mor or related varieties.

The Jaffa brand has been available year-round exclusively at Tesco stores since 2002.
