J Van Vliet: Floral Business of the Year

Re:fresh 2008’s New Covent Garden sponsored Floral Business of the Year award has gone to J Van Vliet Cash & Carry Group.

The company has enjoyed massive growth in the last couple of years, and is now one the largest fresh flower, plant and sundries wholesale groups in the UK selling to florists.

With branches in Enfield in London, Heathrow in London, Northampton, Derby, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen and New York in the US, J van Vliet Cash & Carry won the judges over “for providing the ultimate one-stop-shop wholesale concept for florists, enabling smaller retailers to compete more effectively with the multiples”.

Only registered customers can shop at J van Vliet, which the firm believes gives it the opportunity to get to know its customers and develop good relationships with them. Customers include professional florists, designers, landscapers, garden centres and plant interior designers.

To guarantee its customers the best quality, there are five flower deliveries a week, not only from J van Vliet’s own companies in the Netherlands but also from Australia, Israel, Italy, France, Ecuador, Colombia, Spain, Costa Rica and South Africa. Customers can enter walk-in coolers, where they can choose from anything from chrysanthemums to more unusual flowers.

Finalists for the award include Moyses Stevens of New Covent Garden Flower Market and privately owned wholesale nursery Copseys (Denvilles) Ltd.
