A week may be a long time in politics, but a year most certainly is not a long time in fresh produce.

It is barely credible that we have reached the point of the year where I look forward to seeing you all at Re:fresh. But we have, and I do.

This is the third Re:fresh Conference and Awards and at the time of writing, we are on the verge of once again selling out the evening event. Getting you to give your days up to attend a conference, no matter how interesting, educational or potentially business-changing the content, is a different matter, but numbers are more than healthy and the programme is set to sizzle.

On page one today, you will have read the first hint of the type of information our research project on you, the industry has gleaned. Believe me, it is the tip of an iceberg of opinions, advice and predictions that will keep delegates guessing throughout the day.

The Re:fresh Awards remain unique in this industry, as the only recognition handed out by an industry body to this particular section of the fruit, vegetable and flowers fraternities. Those of you who are going to join us are in for another excellent night with the stars of the industry, hosted by the excellent Dominic Holland.

All the very best to every finalist. I’m told the standard of entries improves with each year, so just to be there is a real achievement.
